Volvo Car Corporation is a Swedish automobile manufacturer founded in 1927, in Gothenburg, Sweden.   Although Volvo has been acquired and owned by various companies, the brand remains to be recognized as providing safe, dependable cars.  Over the years, Volvo has produced SUVs, station wagons, sedans and compact coupes.   To demonstrate changes in exterior, we thought it would be fun to share a couple of VERY old Volvo photos, and some new 2014 Models.

The first roadster from Jaguar in 40 years has just arrived, and no doubt, worth the wait.  The Jaguar F-Type is creating a lot of hype from car enthusiasts, Jaguar fans, auto bloggers, social sites and auto review sites around the globe.   From the New York Auto Show, ConsumerReports.com said, “Jaguar F-Type roadster is a pretty kitty.”  A perfect blend of style, performance and luxury.  Once you start the engine, and hear it roar, you’ll know this cat means business!

Buying a car isn’t just about the price

And it shouldn’t be.  You’re probably going to own your car for a long time.  Why not look at the long-term benefits that a smaller dealership can provide?  With the high expenses of overhead, wages and insurance these days, dealerships are operating on smaller margins. Many manufacturers are requiring larger contributions towards competitive placement in the marketplace, and internet presence.  This means there is less wiggle room on the car price itself.  These days, it’s important to focus on the reputation of the manufacturer, and other ways to save money such as:

Start online.  According to new a report by J.D. Power and Associates, Searching online for used vehicles has become the primary way for consumers to locate used automobiles.   (Approximately 50%.)  The report also notes that consumers have become increasingly aware of the benefits of certified pre-owned programs. (CPO)  Dealerships invest a considerable amount of time and money to create websites that are convenient, well-represented of their brand, and useful to the customer.  A great deal of information can be found here, and don’t be afraid to test the dealerships ‘follow-through’ by submitting an inquiry.  Read what others think of local dealerships, through online reviews in places such as Dealer.com, Cars.com and Google Maps.

Take a test drive.  Once you’ve shopped around online, it’s time to get to know the car, and the dealership first-hand.  When you visit the dealership, the salesman should greet you kindly without being to ‘pushy.’  Or, if you feel you’re getting ignored, that’s a good reason to find the door…quickly.  Introduce yourself to the owner or general manager, visit the service department and even check the bathrooms for cleanliness.  It’s not as silly as it sounds!

Certified Pre-Owned at Jenkins Imports

You may have noticed that ”Certified Pre-Owned” or “CPO” has replaced the term ”used.”   CPO originated due to the high rate of luxury off-lease vehicles populating the market in the recent past. Because these vehicles are in great shape and have lower mileage, they’re refurbished.  Often times there are special financing plans and roadside assistance offered as well.  Who buys pre-owned?  Someone who wants a less-costly alternative to a new car.  Who buys certified pre-owned?  Someone who wants a low mileage, less-costly alternative knowing the vehicle has been thoroughly inspected and includes an extended warranty.  Most CPO vehicles are less than five or six years old and in great shape, however they are not perfect.  The added inspection and warranty provide a sense of security that you wouldn’t receive buying a “used” vehicle.

Not all CPO vehicles are created equal.  Jaguar CPO vehicles must be less than five years old and have fewer than 60,000 miles.  Compare to Mercedes-Benz CPO program of less than six years and fewer than 75,000 miles.  Jaguar CPO vehicles warranty is 72months/100,000 miles while Mercedes-Benz is 12months/ 1oo,000 miles.  (Which ever comes first.)  BMW’s CPO program only covers 12months/ 50,000 miles and requires a warranty deductible of $50.
